I've been perusing ebay for the past couple of months
in an effort to find a great deal on a ceramic beer
tower. I was mainly looking for a simple 2-faucet tower
and several of them would pop up every now and again,
but for whatever reason, I just didn't jump on them.
Then, towards the end of June, a 5-faucet was listed
with an opening bid of $50.
Wow, what a steal, right? I made up my mind right then
that I'd be willing to pay up to $200. I prefer to bid
at the last minute, so I added it to my watch list and
I'd check in a couple of times every day. Bids were
coming in at $100. No problem. $150. No problem. $200.
Uh-oh. Ok, I can manage $300. It stays at $200. Ok, I
can manage this. On the final hour of bidding, the
price went up from $220 to $610. Bummer. I was
heartbroken, but hey, I knew I couldn't be that
lucky.
Two weeks later, the item was re-listed.
I was suspicious. Is this a scam? Seller has a 100%
positive rating. I watch it for a full week. No bids.
Hmmmm, maybe I can still get this for $200. I put in my
bid late at night before the listing closes. I wake up
in the morning, I'm still the high bidder. Yay!
I check ebay at lunch time. Crap! I've been outbid.
Screw it. I've been through enough drama with this
thing. I'll snipe with a maximum bid of $300.
Happy ending: I win it for $207.50.
The beer gods must like me....
