ABOUT ME
I started brewing in September
2007. I have brewed only all-grain
beer since Batch 1. (Except for
one batch that I helped a friend
brew, using my equipment, but that
doesn't really count.)
I brew only ales, since I haven't
invested in temperature control
yet... but I'm dying to find a
chest freezer to use for a
fermentation cabinet. I brew a lot
of Hobgoblin... other than that,
my beers rotate frequently, and I
rarely brew a beer twice. I'm in
it for the variety right now. This
fall I will probably start
"settling down" and
working on my technique, as almost
every beer I brew winds up with
one minor fault that makes it less
Awesome.
I'm a wuss when it comes to
heat... so in the summer time,
it's not uncommon for me to
"Get ready to brew
xxxxx" about 5 times before I
actually get the brew started.
Sorry to be such a flip-flopper.
Someday I'll start my first lager.
Someday.

No... not a dead hooker... that should ship in a
refrigerated container for freshness!
No, it's my new Brewmation Electric HLT. EdWort
and I bought a custom size, and since we ordered at the
same time, Brewmation was super-cool enough to give
both of us a little cut off our bill!
18 gals of pure water-heatin' fury!
Now I just need to have an outlet run into the new brew
room. In the meantime, I'll set the HLT up in the
laundry room, and just move the hot water by
bucketful... It's only about 15' away.
Also took the opportunity to buy a CO Detector this
weekend .. $50 at Home Schlepo... I remembered that I
have a spare garden-hose outlet in the basement shower,
and I have two 50' hoses... so I think we're going to
give Indoor Brewing a good ol' college try this
weekend....

| jmulligan 10/30/2008 About what you'd expect - bruised
elbows and butt, and a sore spot
where the full 5-gallon bucket
slammed into my chest. But I am
ridiculously clumsy (I have been
falling up and down stairs since I
was 10), so it was nothing new. I
was just so glad nothing bad
happened to the beer! |
