BREW HISTORY
Just getting started. Have a friend and
dive buddy who talked me into it. 1st
Brew: a nut brown kit with 3 lbs of dark
DME. 2nd Brew: A honey Hefeweizen. -
something I kinda made on my own with the
help of a recipe from the local brew
shop. 3rd Brew: Doing another nut brown
kit but steeping 1lb of honey malt to get
a little more flavor. 4th Brew: Cream
Ale 5th and beyond, let's just say the
brewing bug has bitten really
hard. Well as of August 2008 and only
brewing for less than a year, I won Second
place in the local fair for both of the
brews that I entered!

Let see where this started. I got over 7lbs of bing cherries from a friend of mine. As they were handing me these, he said, we are going to be out of town for 2 weeks and you can come pick the ripe cherries from the tree. Well they were not the same, the cherries that I picked were a bit more tart. So I brewed a wheat based wit, recipe follows:
7lbs Wheat LME
1lb 6 row
3/4 lb Munich
1/4 lb Carapils
perle hops for 60 3.8 AAU
Fermented on Wyeast 3944

Fermented for 5 days @ 68 added 4.5 lbs of pitted tart cherries. 4 days later added 2.5lbs of bing cherries. Planning on transferring to secondary with 2.5 lbs of bing cherries aand 1 Tablespoon of Vanilla extract and then fermenting @ 35 for 3 weeks....

I just won 2nd place on both of my Lemon Cream Ale and my Vanilla Cream Ale at the local county fair.
