I had wanted to brew beer at home for
years before I actually did it. I obsess
too much about things and tend to
overplan, so I read and read and read
books, magazines, and of course forums. I
became active on HomeBrewTalk among all
the other forums because of the surprising
support for senior members and lack of
apparent 'flame wars' notorious on other
boards.
I brewed my first batch as an
extract kit and in hindsight wonder why I
didn't start sooner. All the reading and
planning was time wasted not brewing. So
for all you beginners out there...brew
brew brew..read when you CANT brew. No
matter how much you read and plan, the
experience of screwing something up and
the trying to adapt is priceless compared
to all the reading about it.
I did
about 6 or so extracts and even got a good
friend involved in homebrewing. I soon
went to all-grain with a cooler setup for
about 6 batches. Then I added a 10 gallon
mash tun pot and upgraded by brew kettle
to 14G to do larger batches. That l
